I received a couple responses with route suggestions. unfortunately is hard to get creative on lake Michigan since there are a limited number of harbors to use as destination points. I’m currently in the process of putting the routes together for display and will post them when completed.
I’ve always had a thing for lighthouses so one idea I’ve been pondering over the last year or so is a lighthouse tour on the lake. What better landmark to use than the safety of a lighthouse. This would also be good for people who want to go the distance, but not across open water. It will take a little time to put this route together, but I’m going to post that as soon as its done.
One concern that has been voiced for all routes expessially paddling off shore are fishing boats. Me being one of them going back and forth I can say it gets very busy, and if your leaving from a harbor the only way to avoid them is by timing when you leave. Under nocircumstance would I try to go through. Most of them esspessially the charters would drive over without looking back. Generally speaking he peak fishing times are between 5-11AM and 5-10PM
Long or short routes, if you have ideas that you have thought of please share them.
